Baptism occurs when you are immersed in water symbolizing Christ’s death and burial and are brought out from under the water to symbolize Christ’s resurrection and you identifying with Him.
Baptism is a decision you make to walk out the first step of obedience after making a commitment to follow Jesus. You have been made new in your salvation, and baptism is a symbol to those watching – and to those you tell later – that you are no longer a slave to sin and death but are alive in Christ. Because of Jesus, everyone can live in freedom.
